First real signs of winter today with frost and icy cars and windows, but sunshine in abundance early on;
sufficient to go out exploring.
Woods are always good value and this avenue of trees guides us into the woodland of one of the finest country parks you will find hereabouts: Upton Country Park near to Poole.
But, before we arrive at the good bits, we have to pass such sights as this view of a fence carrying a somewhat superfluous notice!
Can't imagine why anyone would want to enter, unless it was to get to the far side where an unrealistic image of Poole emerges from the mist and what seems to a fair volume of water.
That really is a railway bridge crossing the water.
But here we are in woods filled with unusal tree people. Just wave back and he'll probably go away.
Here's another with one eye trying to attract attention.
Just keep walking; I think we'll be alright. These woodland creatures with their trousers falling down do not seem to be too worried.
The one on the right of the pair in front doesn't realise he is about to get a fistful of dead leaves up his jumper!
Perhaps they haven't seen the others yet - or these monsters.
But, here is my chief explorer tramping the leaves of many autumns, hoping she won't disappear down an unseen hole.
I'll follow a sensible distance behind - just in case.
