Alternative: get out in the sunshine and see a bit more of Dorset - Studland to be exact, from where it is but a step or two to Old Harry Rocks which on this map is the pear shaped bit bottom left.
This is what a winter walk looks like - on the way back with my fellow explorer ahead on one of those long, long trails awinding where you keep telling yourself it can't be much further!
The hedgerow tends to block the view but, when there is a gap, you will just have to take my word that Bournemouth is fine sight.
Where were we going when we set off?
Here, which you must admit is another fantastic view - from the air. Our path was from the point back as far as you can see on the right hand side of the headland; that's when you are going back - on the left setting out. 1.6 miles going and 1.6 miles return, although staggering from left to right the nearer we got back to base probably made it nearer 4 in total! I realise I could walk the golf course now but would be too tired to take any shots!
But we got there - as this planting the flag at the north pole type picture shows.
Mad? Sort of; but if you can't play golf you can do the next best thing: take lunch looking at the magnificent views over the Isle of Purbeck from the Golf Club restaurant.
What a lovely day!
